It wouldn't be Oppoween without the Munster Koach and Grandpa's DRAG-U-LA. About these cars after the jump.
The Koach was designed by Tom Daniel and built by George Barris. It was powered by a 289 cubic inch AC Cobra engine that was bored out to 425 c.i. It had Jahns high-compression pistons, an Isky camshaft, Bobby Barr racing headers, and 10 Carter carbs plated in chrome. It had a manual gearbox, brass fender and radiator, and was painted Gloss Black Pearl. Though you can't tell on the original B&W show, the interior was blood red, and it rode on Astro Mag wheels. ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) However, a commenter on BoldRide indicates, "You cannot bore a 289 out to much more than 302 cubic inches. Those carbs were stromberg, not carter, and not functional. There actually was a hidden Holley four barrel that fed the engine." Whatever, it's still bad ass.
The DRAG-U-LA was also designed by Tom Daniel and built in George Barris' shop by Richard "Korky" Korkes. It is built around a real fiberglass coffin and ran a 350HP, 289CI Ford Mustang V-8 engine, with a four-speed stick shift. It had two four-barrel carburetors[citation needed] mounted on a Mickey Thompson Ram-Thrust manifold. The rear tires were 10.50-inch Firestone racing slicks, mounted on custom 10-inch Rader aluminum & steel wheels. ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )
Highlights from Hot Rod Herman (1965)
And let's not forget Marilyn. Pat Priest poses with the Munster Koach for Playboy Magazine in 1971. Priest played Marilyn from 1964-1966 after the original Marilyn, Beverly Owen, left the show.
